Our Sunday School program is open to everyone. We offer classes for children age 2 – high school and also adults. All classes are offered at 9:15am. Our 2017 - 2018 Sunday School year began with Rally Day on September 10th and continues through mid-May. If your child will be attending we ask that you pick up or download and complete a registration form to complete and turn into the Sunday School. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call!
**Our staff and youth workers are required to take Parish Protection when working with youth and children. This handbook outlines what is involved with, and guidelines for, working with youth and children.
Youth are the church of the past, present, and future. First Lutheran has many opportunities for learning, growing in faith, having fun, and bonding with friends. With Milestone Ministry, your children celebrate special moments along their faith journey – starting with baptism. In addition to Sunday School, your children and family can continue to grow their faith by participating in:
· Elementary Youth Group
· Middle School Youth Group
· Youth Room
. ELCA Youth Gathering
* Junior/Senior Trips/Youth Missions Group
If you are looking to have a child or adult baptized into the membership of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, please call the Church Office at 920-885-4497. A meeting with one of our pastors is required prior to baptism.
First Lutheran offers many special events throughout the year. See our special events page for a listing of these activities. We hope you’ll join us and bring your friends and family members! All are welcome.
Here is the weekly calendar for September 16 -24. Have a good week!
First Lutheran is collecting 2018 calendars for Friendship International's cargo shipment to Liberia. If you have a calendar to spare, drop it on by the church office....we'd be glad to donate it to the group for you! Items are due by October 2nd.
Lutheran World Relief of First Lutheran is collecting bath-sized soap for it's health kits for countries in need. Collection bins are provided in Friendship Hall in which to put your soap donations. Soap should be in the original wrappers. Last year we shipped 64 pounds of soap, so let's see if we can beat that this year!
Thrivent cookies will be on sale at church between services on Saturday and Sunday, September 16th and 17th. Chocolate chip, m & m, cranberry..... so YUMMY!
On Sunday, September 17th we will begin a Study of the Reformation. This is for adults and Confirmation students alike! Those attending should meet in the Chapel on the 17th at 9:15am. We will be teaming up with the Adult Forum on the 17th and 24th to hear from those who recently took a tour of Germany for the Reformation anniversary. If you have any questions about this study, please contact Pastor Joy Mortensen-Wiebe or Pastor Terry Larson. All are welcome!
In support of those affected by the recent hurricanes, First Lutheran is encouraging those who would like to provide monetary help to use the following link to donate online: www.elca.org/disaster
If you like, you may instead download a paper form which you can fill out and mail, along with your donation, to the ELCA Lutheran Disaster Response for this cause.
First Lutheran recently said farewell to our pastoral intern and his wife, Tim and Mary Kay Knipfer. Tim was our Vicar this past year. He is now returning to Wartburg to complete his final year at seminary. We will miss them both very much! Below are a few pictures from our farewell program for Tim and Mary Kay:
