It is our pleasure to announce that we have started a new Bible Program! Our goal is to ensure every child in Sunday School has access to a Bible that is age appropriate. We are investing in Bibles for each student to be able to borrow from the church and then be able to pass down their Bible when they receive their next Bible.
Two year olds through 2nd graders will receive My First Hands On Bible (NLT), 3rd-5th graders will receive the Adventure Bible (NIrV), and 6th graders will receive the Spark Bible (NRSV) that was typically given in 3rd grade. The kids will be able to use the Bibles at church and bring them home to be able to read with their families.
Each year the 3rd graders will pass down their Bible to a new 2-3 year old and receive their new Bible, and the 6th graders will pass down their book to the new 3rd graders and then the 6th graders will receive their Bible. When students get confirmed, they will be able to pick out their own personal Bible as a gift from the church. We’re excited to provide this program to our children and youth here at First!
We will be distributing the Bibles during Sunday School and then the children will be recognized during church.
Our 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, July 7th, 2018. This is always a popular event. Proceeds go toward C.A.R.E. for Dodge County (Community Awareness and Recovery Environment)-- Empower families choosing a life of recovery.

It's that time of year again! It's time for our Rummage and Bake Sale! This is a great fundraiser for First Lutheran, as the proceeds go toward our mortgage principal. The Rummage Sale takes place April 12 and 13, from 8am - 5pm; Saturday, April 14th from 8am to noon. There's something for everyone at the sale. A Bake Sale will also be held along with the Rummage Sale on April 12th & 13th. Lots of goodies! A food stand is also available April 12th & 13th.
Our team needs lots of help also to make this sale happen. If you are interested in helping with the sale or prepping for it, please call the church office at 920-885-4497, or sign up here at the church.
We are still accepting donations for the sale also. Items needed are clothing, DVDs and videos, craft supplies, linens, toys, baby items, dishes, furniture, books, collectibles, antiques, jewelry, household and miscellaneous items. (Items not accepted are: computers, computer desks, used carpeting or old TVs.) THANK YOU! Hope to see you there.
All are welcome to attend our Holy Week Breakfast held on Palm Sunday, March 25th from 8:30 - 10:30am. The menu includes breakfast casseroles, pancakes, omelets, cheesy hash browns, coffee cakes, juice, coffee and milk. Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for seniors 60+ or children 10 and younger. Kids under 5 eat free. Tickets can be bought in our church office Monday - Friday from 9am - 2:30pm, or at church on the weekends. Proceeds will go toward our youth ELCA mission trip to Houston, Texas this summer.

Thinking of Christmas? It'll be here before you know it! Our annual Christmas Bazaar and Cookie Walk will be held on Saturday, December 2nd from 8am - 2pm. Many local vendors will be here, along with crafters with hand-made items. A white-elephant room is also part of the fun, along with tons of cookies for Christmas! A food stand will also be available. Christmas item donations are welcome and can be brought to the church Monday - Friday from 9am-4pm. Proceeds from the sale go to our mortgage principle.
Our Thanksgiving Eve worship service is Wednesday, November 22nd at 7pm. Come worship with us and give thanks for God's blessings!
After worship we will have our annual pie social. Yum! Pie donations are welcome! There are inserts in our bulletins at church on wish to write your donation. If you would like to bake a pie you may fill out an insert and bring it to the office, or if you are baking a pie you may call the church office at 885-4497 and let us know your name and what kind of pie you will bring. Pies should be brought to the church by at least 6pm. Thanks for your help! Hope to see you there. All are welcome!

Fall is fast approaching and one of our annual celebrations in autumn is our Harvest Dinner. This is a wonderful feast put on by our Social Concerns Committee with the help of our great kitchen team. A short program is usually included. More information about the dinner will be coming in the next month.
Our Congregational Health Ministry Team, along with Church Health Services, will present a special film, "A Message from Jessie" on Tuesday, October 17th from 6:45-8pm in Friendship Hall here at First Lutheran. This film was seen on Dateline, NBC as well as several local TV news channels.
Here is a brief description of the topic being covered:
"After the brutal rape and murder of his daughter Jessie in Hartford, local author Buck Blodgett and "The LOVE is GREATER than Hate" Project Team, transformed tragedy into a powerful purpose. THE MISSION: to impact and END violence against women."

Join us on Saturday, September 30th at 7pm for a movie sponsored by our Stewardship Committee, "Until Forever....A Family's Journey of Faith". This is a "powerful, true account of one young man's courageous battle with leukemia and his journey of faith." There is no admission fee. *This movie is rated PG-13. Childcare will be provided.

Every fall and spring we hold a few learning sessions for those looking to enter into membership. These are just three casual one-hour sessions at which we tell you about our church and what it has to offer. There are no tests! Attendance at all three sessions is preferred. The dates are: Sundays: September 24th, October 8th and October 22nd. We meet in different rooms in the building to help familiarize you with our church building and what we offer. Then, those who have attended the class sessions are welcomed into the church at our 8:00am worship service on October 29th. A special coffee fellowship is held after the service to greet our new members! If interested, please call or e-mail our church office.
We will welcome the kids back to Sunday School on Sunday, September 10th! This is a fun day for the kids as well as adults. The children will attend class orientation and then EVERYONE OF ALL AGES is invited to our annual church picnic that day after the 10:30 worship service, so you will DEFINITELY want to attend. At the picnic the meat, beverage and tableware will be provided. Please bring a dish to pass. Music will be provided by Carol and Dave Crawford. Games, prizes, a staff pie-eating contest will be held, and more! Don't miss it. Bring a friend or two!
Our Evangelism Committee is sponsoring our 2nd Annual 5K Run-Walk on August 19th, 2017. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race starting at 8:30 a.m.

Our Confirmation students will spend a week at the Pine Lake Camp in Waupaca June 18 - 23. This is an annual event at which the youth find new friends, engage in fun activities and worship Christ with others. This year's event is full up. Check next year if your child is a member and a confirmation student.
First Lutheran is partnering with Grace Presbyterian Church to hold Vacation Bible School June 5 - 9. The classes will be held at Grace, from 12:45pm - 2:45pm, Monday through Friday. This is a free program and is open to children who have completed 4K through 5th grade. Registration forms available soon!
All First Lutheran 2017 Graduates are invited to join us for a special graduation celebration.
When: Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the 10:30 am service
We will begin approximately 9:45 am with refreshments and fellowship prior to the service, gather for pictures in cap and gown, then celebrate the new journey our grads will begin.
We encourage all members to join us to show their support and encouragement for our youth as this is a special time in their lives.
A well-known jazz band, the St. Louis Stompers, will be part of the Bunny Berigan festival May 19-21. On May 21st the Stompers will lead our 8 & 10:30 worship services. They play gospel music with a jazz flair. Mike Zirpolo, known as "Mr. Trumpet", from the Stompers will talk to us at the 9:15am Adult Forum Class that day. This adds a fun flavor to our worship music for the day. Come join us!
Our 2017 Women's Retreat is scheduled for April -28 at the Pine Lake Bible Camp in Waupaca. Our featured speaker will be Rev. Sue Larson. Cost for the weekend is $155; one night: $85; one day: $35.
