“The best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear!” It’s that time of year and we’re gearing up to go caroling on Sunday, December 16th starting at 2 PM. This year we will be visiting the shut-ins of our congregation by singing 2 or 3 carols and giving out cookies. If you are interested in having carolers come to your home/somebody’s home, would like to be a part of the caroling group, are willing to be a driver, or are interested in providing cookies, please contact the church office. All ages are welcome!
Sunday School Ministry is putting a twist on the Christmas Program this year. Instead of a Christmas Program, come join us for a Family Christmas Experience - One Starry Night - on Saturday, December 8th from 4-5:30 PM. We are providing an opportunity for the entire family to step into the city of Bethlehem and experience what life was like when Jesus was born. As you walk through and experience Bethlehem, there will be crafts & activities at The Inn, Stargazer Hill, The Stable, The Fields, and The Marketplace (snacks). There will even be a tax collector who will collecting offerings during this event. A special envelope will be given upon registration. All members are welcome to attend and/or observe the hustle and bustle of Bethlehem life.
Following this event, jwe will be worshiping together at 5:30 PM where the kids will provide special music. After worship, we will make our way out to the stable and witness the Live Nativity provided by First Acts.
There will be chili, bread, cookies, and hot chocolate to follow. If you have any questions or would like to help in some way, please contact the church office or Heidi Muenchow.
If you are interested in becoming a member at First, please join us on December 3rd, 9th, and 16th from 9:15-10:15 AM in the Chapel. This is also open to anyone who is interested in a little "refresher" about Christianity, Lutheranism, and how we try to be those things here at First.
We begin with telling our own stories, then talk about what the church is based on the stories class members tell. Then we will talk about this "local franchise" of the Body of Christ called First Evangelical Lutheran Church. These classes will be lead by our Interim Pastor Bob Moberg.

It is our pleasure to announce that we have started a new Bible Program! Our goal is to ensure every child in Sunday School has access to a Bible that is age appropriate. We are investing in Bibles for each student to be able to borrow from the church and then be able to pass down their Bible when they receive their next Bible.
Two year olds through 2nd graders will receive My First Hands On Bible (NLT), 3rd-5th graders will receive the Adventure Bible (NIrV), and 6th graders will receive the Spark Bible (NRSV) that was typically given in 3rd grade. The kids will be able to use the Bibles at church and bring them home to be able to read with their families.
Each year the 3rd graders will pass down their Bible to a new 2-3 year old and receive their new Bible, and the 6th graders will pass down their book to the new 3rd graders and then the 6th graders will receive their Bible. When students get confirmed, they will be able to pick out their own personal Bible as a gift from the church. We’re excited to provide this program to our children and youth here at First!
We will be distributing the Bibles during Sunday School and then the children will be recognized during church.
Our 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday, July 7th, 2018. This is always a popular event. Proceeds go toward C.A.R.E. for Dodge County (Community Awareness and Recovery Environment)-- Empower families choosing a life of recovery.
